promote

the first edition of 900fest, European festival of 20th century history, subtitled “wars, totalitarianism, democracy”. Five days of meetings, conferences, book presentations and screening of films that will take place in Forlì and Predappio. The goal is to make these two places an international centre of meeting and reflection on Fascism and the totalitarian regimes that ravaged Europe in the 20th century.

The bookshop is organised by the cultural association “Il parco dei ragazzi”.

The festival

The project, around which a group of bodies representing civil society in the Forlì area has gathered (AMI, ANPI, ARCI, ENDAS, Alfred Lewin Foundation, Resistance and Contemporary History Institute, CGIL, UIL, UDU), originated from the common reflection about the need of constant historical in-depth analysis and memory preservation of what happened in Europe in the last century. Its goal is to make Forlì and Predappio a national and international reference point for reflection, meeting and study on dictatorships, totalitarian regimes and democracy.

This prospect represents not only a proper way to “historically elaborate” the fact that the founder of Fascism was born in the Forlì area but also to uphold the loyalty to that strong vocation to politics that Romagna has shown to the whole Europe from the period of Risorgimento and the burst of the “social question” onwards.

To this end, during a series of meetings began the development of a joint proposal for the creation of an internationally renowned historical and cultural date, which should take place every year in cooperation with institutions.
